764,471. Floors. BRITISH ALUMINIUM CO., Ltd. Oct 17, 1951 [Oct. 30, 1950], No. 26430/50. Class 20(4) Non-skid floors for commercial vehicles, ware-houses, &c., comprise extruded, or moulded, light metal, or alloy, plank-like members 1 and connecting members 13, the latter, having side grooves defined by flanges 14a, 16 and ribs 15 to receive the corresponding flanges 1a, 12 or ribs 10 of the members 1, being bolted to crossbearers of the floor, not shown, to hold the assembled floor in position. Ribs 8 brace the members 1, the thickened part above each rib being grooved to receive non-skid inserts 7. Non-skid inserts 18 are also provided in the connecting members 13. In an assembled floor the bases of the flanges 16 on the ribs 15 are slightly higher than the bases of flanges 11 on the ribs 10 1 this ensures that the members 13 firmly clamp the members 1 down on to the crossbearers. The width of the whole floor assembly can be adjusted by varying the extent to which the flanges a, 12 enter the corresponding grooves on the connecting pieces 13. Where it is inconvenient to fit a connecting piece 13, e.g. adjacent a wall 27 of the vehicle, a make-up piece 21, Fig. 3, is used. In the modification, Fig. 3, the members 1 have a central rib 5a above a single bracing rib 8, the non-skid members being omitted from the members 1, 13.
