Abstract

764,467. Antifriction wheel bearings. ROESCH, A., [trading as WAGNER, F. [Firm of]]. Jan. 29, 1955, No. 2756/55. Addition to 729,008, [Group XX]. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XX] The shafts 5 of a gyroscope rotor 4 are mounted in antifriction wheel bearings comprising rollers 6, 8 mounted on rings 9, 10 disposed within a housing 1. Each ring 9, 10 is of relatively thin springy steel with three integral inwardly extending ears 12 and relatively small outward projections 13, located between the projections 12, which support the ring within the housing 1. Rotation of the ring within the housing is prevented by a key 14 engaging a slot 16 in the ring and a keyway 15 in the housing 1. The rollers 6, 8 are rotatably mounted by ball-bearings on pins 17 fixed in holes 11 in the ears 12. Housing 1 has screwed end covers 2, 3. The rotor serves as a turbine wheel and is driven by compressed air. In a modification the rotor is electrically driven.
