Abstract

763,862. High-frequency discharge apparatus. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Aug. 16, 1954 [Aug. 15, 1953], No. 23841/54. Class 39(1). An electron oscillator as described in Specification 729,930, has a gap 136 between the anode 2 and the inner conducter 104 of the output line 105 chosen for proper coupling between tube and load. A tunable resonant line 120 is coupled between the anode 2 and the reflector electrode 4. The outer conductor is coupled to electrode 4 directly or capacitively ; the inner conductor is connected to anode 2 directly. The anode 2 has an extension 124 surrounding output line 105 to form a quarter-wave choke. The electrons oscillate to-and-fro in a plane parallel to anode 2 and drift sideways in crossed electrostatic and magnetic fields to a collector 7. In another embodiment the collector 7 has an extension surrounding the end of reflector electrode 4. Anode 2 is preferably of tantalum to act as a getter.
