763,593. Knitting-machines. COTTON, Ltd., W. July 3, 1953 [Jan. 28, 1953], No.17398/55. Divided out of 763,591. Class 74 (2). A straight-bar machine comprising a number of divisions and a central non-knitting division having control mechanism as disclosed in Specification 763,591 has two lead screws 81, 82, for controlling the right- and left-hand selvedge fashioning points of each division, disposed in the central non-knitting division such that they overlap one another. The lead screws may be connected to screws 79, 80 for controlling the main carrier drive. Auxiliary lead screws 85, 86 are also provided for controlling additional fashioning points, these latter lead screws overlapping the main lead screws 81, 82 and being in alignment with each other. The screws 85, 86 are also coupled with the carrier drive mechanism 31. Specifications 628,527, 742,650 and 742,655 also are referred to.
