Abstract
A method of coating the surfaces of metals and other materials with a protective layer of a substance which comprises applying the substance in a liquid state either reducing the gas pressure at the time of coating or afterwards and then allowing the coating substance to dry or set under normal pressure. Containers and apparatus are coated with varnishes, synthetic resin or the like in liquid or liquified state by this method. The coating may then be subject to heat treatment. The treatment is carried out in a hermetically sealed chamber. If the inner surface of a closed container is to be coated the pressure inside the container is reduced.
