A rubber sheet 2 is coated with iodine 1 on both sides, the iodine 1 being covered by a pad 3 of cotton wool. A metal plate may be used instead of a rubber sheet. A metallic support Ib with an interior chamber 4 may be used, the support 1b being heated by circulation of warm water or steam within the chamber 4, filling the chamber 4 with hot water. An electrical heating resistance may be used to heat the carrier. The device may be incorporated in bandages, &c., or used for the sterilization of germ cultures.
