Abstract

740,012. Sponges. PLYSU PRODUCTS, Ltd. March 24, 1954 [March 30, 1953], No. 8779/53. Class 131. [Also in Group V] A film of polyvinyl chloride, with a suitable content of plasticizer, is bonded to one face of an artificial sponge made from viscose material. As shown, a rectangle of viscose sponge 1 is placed in a mould 3 and covered, to the top of the mould, with a paste resin which is gelled by infra-red heating to provide a layer 2 of polyvinyl chloride embossed at 4, with a cold tool, while it is still hot.
