Abstract

A composition for application to soil to induce ammoniation thereof consists essentially of a carrier blended with a compound having the following general formula <FORM:0762414/VI/1> wherein X is an alkylene group which interposes two or three carbon atoms in the chain between the N atoms, e.g. ethylene, isopropylene, trimethylene, 2, 3 - butylene, cyclohexane, and R is chosen from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, isopropylene, trimethylene. The carrier may be inorganic e.g. inorganic chemical fertilizers, inert materials such as sand, vermiculite and similar mineral fillers or inorganic e.g. fertilizers, humus, compost, peat moss. Specified compounds are isopropylene diamine tetra acetonitrile and ethylene diamine tetra acetonitrile.
