Abstract

Vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride copolymers, polythylene oxide wax or cellulose nitrate are subjected to ionizing radiation in amount sufficient to bring about an increase in resistance to the solvent action of organic solvents but insufficient to cause any substantial change in mechanical properties as measured at ordinary temperatures. The ionizing radiation may be high energy neutrons, gamma rays, X-rays, high energy protons, electrons or helium ions or thermal neutrons.ALSO:Vinyl chloride-vinylidene copolymers, polyethylene oxide wax or cellulose nitrate are subjected to ionizing radiation in amount sufficient to bring about an increase in the resistance of the substance to the solvent action of organic solvents but insufficient to cause any substantial change in the mechanical properties of the substance as measured at ordinary temperatures. The ionizing radiation may be high energy neutrons, gamma rays, X-rays, high energy protons, electrons or helium ions or thermal neutrons.
