[Also in Group XXXII] A tractor comprises side members 16, 17 mounting the wheels 19, 21 and a tractor body 11 carried entirely by being suspended between the members 16, 17, which are pivoted to the body about a common transverse axis through differential gearing in such a manner that pivotal movement 'of one side member relative to the body causes an equal and opposite pivotal movement of the other side member. As shown the members 16, 17 are supported by a bridge shaft 14 in turn supported in a bearing 15 on the tractor body 11. The bridge shaft comprises inner and outer telescopic shafts 24, 25, the shaft 24 being keyed to the bearing 15. Secured to the shaft 24 is a member 27 carrying the planet carrier 29 of the differential gearing, the sun wheels 30, 31 of which are carried by tubes 33, 32, respectively. The tube 32 receives the member 16 and rotatably supports one end of the tube 33 splined to the shaft 25 and carrying a piston. By suitable injection of pressurized liquid the track of the pairs of wheels can be varied and by means of a hydraulic jack 51 the position of the tractor body can be laterally varied. The tractor body 11 carries an engine 12 driving a variable output hydraulic pump connected through conduits to motors 22, 23 in the hubs of the wheels 19, 21. The hydraulic motors are controllable in lateral pairs from seats 13, 50 to steer the tractor. A tool frame comprising a hydraulically operated telescopic bar 44 is supported from the tractor body by links 45, 46, 47. Hydraulic jacks 52, 53 are provided to adjust the tool frame which can be adjusted to a vertical position 48. The enginedriven pump is connected by flexible piping to portable hydraulic motor units for power take purposes, one of the units possibly driving a winch mounted at various positions on the tractor. In a modification a pair of drive shafts housed in the shaft 14 are chain-connected to the tractor wheels, the chains being housed in the arms 16 and the drive shafts being driven from the engine through variable diameter V-belt pulleys or epicyclic gearing.
