Abstract

759,873. Retractive switches. WOOD & CO., Ltd., H. April 28, 1955 '[April 28, 1954], No. 12348/54. Class 38(5) Switching means which enable an electric circuit to be remotely controlled from any of a number of positions along its length comprises a conducting cable and a series of short electrical conductors disposed end to end on the cable and capable of being retracted one from another to break contact, this series forming the companion conductor to the cable in the circuit. As shown, the cable 1 is covered by an insulating sheath 2 and a number of coil springs 3 are disposed on the cable, the ends of the springs being provided with contact members 4. Alternate contact members are provided with contact points 5. Stops 6 are provided on the insulating sheath between the coil springs. In a modification the springs 3 and members 4 are provided with an insulating coating. In further modifications the members 4 are enclosed in insulated sheathings, and the single cable is replaced by several conductors. Specification 759,852 is referred to.
