Abstract
758,828. Bolts &c. HENLEY'S TELE. GRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., and DAVIS, W. C. Aug. 13, 1953, No. 22335/53. Class 89 (1). [Also in Groups XXII and XXXVI] A method of making a screwed body 10, Fig. 7, for an electrical line-tap from hexagonal barstock, comprises forming two pairs of axial grooves 11, 12, and 13, 14, Fig. 2, having a depth greater than that of the thread to be cut and with the outer walls 11a, 12a and 13a, 14a substantially radial, cutting the external thread 18 on the body, and then removing the material between the grooves to bifurcate the body as at 17 but leaving the radial walls substantially unaffected. In a modification, the body is bifurcated before the thread is cut. The tap is completed by a clamp 21 slidable in the body and fixed to a nut 20 engaging the thread 18.
