758,278. Treating liquids with gases &c. STONE & WEBSTER ENGINEERING CORPORATION. March 29, 1954 [May 6. 1953], No. 9041/54. Class 55(2). Bubble trays of perforated plate type for fractionating columns have a number of depressions or cells 42 preferably slightly wider than deep and about as wide as the corresponding raised parts 44. In the form shown the walls are of channel shape and are staggered in relation to those of,adjacent trays ; they may also comprise concentric formations or separate cups. In operation rising vapour traverses perforations 47 of the raised portions and liquid of low aeration descends through perforations 46 of the walls.
