Class 118(2) A direction indicator for use in road vehicles comprises a casing 4 carrying on its rear surface a driving mirror 2 and enclosing a pivoted semaphore arm 10 and a stationary signalling lamp shining through aligned front and rear lenses, such as 13. The arm 10 is composed predominantly of translucent material and contains a lamp which is illuminated when the arm is in the raised position. The stationary signalling lamp, which may be illuminated either continuously or intermittently when the arm is raised, is arranged also to throw a light laterally on to arm 10. A flap 11 counterweighted so as to be moved freely lies over arm 10 and serves, when the arm is lowered, to close the gap in casing 4 and protect the electromagnetic actuating mechanism.
