757,759. Making turbine &c. blades; rolling. WURTTEMBERGISCHE METALLWARENFABRIK. June 17, 1954 [June 19, 1953], No. 17872/54. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). In a method of making turbine or compressor blades a blank 2, Fig. 2, to be rolled in successive stages is initially formed with one or more grooves 6 or beads by the first roll pair 3, 4 to act as guides to prevent the blank becoming displaced during the following rolling stages. The blank may be rolled between segmental rolls, the bead or groove being gradually reduced until it is finally removed in the last rolling stage. In a modification beads 16, Fig. 12, are formed along each-longitudinal edge and these remain during the final rolling stage after which the beads are removed. The blank is finally upset at one end to form the root and is then stamped in dies to the final cross-section and twist.
