Abstract

757,228. Cow-milkers. ALFA-LAVAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 22, 1954 [Nov. 20, 1953; Jan. 18, 1954], Nos. 32229/53 and 1431/54. Class 84. An operating cover for a milk receiver in a mechanical milker comprises a cover 1 formed as a stainless steel disc having mounted upon it a connecting member 2 of cup form with resilient sealing means 3. A further gasket 4 provides seal for the pulsator 5 and the whole assembly is clamped together by a screw 6 on the handle 7 of the milk pail. A check valve 8 is provided and has a flange 8b to limit its lifting movement and thus prevent accidental removal. The check valve is of moulded rubber and fits in the member 2, a number of spaced radial openings being provided in the seating. A hollow-stemmed valve with radial apertures could be substituted in which case the radial openings in the seating are unnecessary. The connecting member 2 may be a tube and may fit on a raised portion of the cover which would function as the check-valve seat. A sight glass and milk cock (as disclosed in Specification 738,859) are provided. Specifications 757,227 and 757,288 also are referred to.
