Abstract
756,838. Aerials. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 31, 1954 [Dec. 31, 1953], No. 37824/54. Class 40 (7). An aerial system stated to have good mechanical and electrical stability and to be protected from changes of impedance due to snow and ice formation comprises at least one full-wave dipole, each dipole element being supported at a voltage node and covered with dielectric material spaced from that element. Preferably the dielectric covering is relatively thin and spaced from the surface of the radiating members by a distance approximately equal to their diameter. The covering may also surround the aerial input end of the feeder. In the embodiment described the rigid tubular radiating members 1 and 2 are shown in cross-section and are rigidly supported by stays 3 and 4 at voltage nodes. Feeders such as 6 extend from the ends of the radiating members and are led inside the dielectric housing 7, 8, 9, 10, surrounding the radiating members to the point at which they enter, and are screened by, the main support 5. The housings are spaced by distance pieces provided in the neighbourhood of the voltage nodes.
