756,773. Endless conveyers; rail joints. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AKT.-GES. April 12, 1954 [Aug. 7, 1953], No. 10661/54. Classes 78 (1) and 104 (2). The running rollers 1 of an articulated trough conveyer run on tracks 2 of L-section each composed of a series of rail sections, each section having its horizontal flange extended at its ends beyond the vertical flange to form a yielding tongue, the width of which decreases towards the free end, e.g. to a point. As shown, four identical rail sections are assembled between each of a series of supports 4 by struts 2a, 2b joining upper and lower tracks on each side of the conveyer, brackets 5, 6 on the support on which the adjacent ends of the sections rest, and plates 13 on the supports having slots 12 through which stop screws 11 on the struts 2a, 2b pass to provide limited angular movement in the vertical plane up to 2¢ degrees between each section and the support. Each rail section is mitred symmetrically at 8 so that at each joint the points 7 lie opposite to one another. A gusset plate 9 is located in the gap and is attached by a flange 10 to the support 4. Mitred edges 8 may be replaced by arcuate edges (Fig. 5, not shown), plate 9 correspondingly being of Norman Arch shape.
