Abstract

755,989. Callipers. LANCEFIELD, S. S. Feb. 23, 1955 [Feb. 26, 1954], No. 5734/54. Class 106 (2). A calliper gauge comprises two crossed arms pivoted together, each arm being suitably bent on each side of the pivot P so as to provide one limb 1, 4, 5 of an outside calliper on each side of the pivot P, the distances from the pivot to the measuring face of each limb being equal and the limbs 4, 5 on at least one side of the pivot being straight with inturned ends. The limbs 1 on one side of the pivot P are arcuate and the limbs 4, 5 on the other side have straight sides which are spaced by unequal amounts from the central line A, B. The distance apart of the measuring faces of one pair of limbs which contact a workpiece is the same as that of the other pair and can be measuredwith a rule. The different forms of the limbs provide for gauging differently shaped objects. A tightness adjustment is provided at the pivot P.
