Abstract

755,430. Towing ropes. KNOWLES, W. Jan. 28, 1955 [Jan. 30, 1954], No. 2844/54. Class 109. A car &c. tow rope comprises a wire rope I furnished with an eye 2 at each end formed by turning back the end of the rope and clamping it with a ferrule 3, a detent 4 being attached to each eye 2 by passing the rope through an aperture 5 therein, the rope also being furnished, with loops 7 between its centre and the eyes 2, into which the detent 4 may be passed to form bights 8 about parts of the towed and towing vehicles. The bights 8 are preferably wound with protective canvas-reinforced rubber tubings and the loops 7 may be formed from the rope 1 and similar rope portions held adjacent thereto by the ferrules 3.
