Abstract
Converter bottoms having a basis of refractory materials and organic binders are made by first compacting by pressure, tamping, impacts or vibration, then heating to 100 DEG -350 DEG C. and during heating again compacting by impact and/or vibration. Heating is by hot gases passed under pressure and/or drawn under partial vacuum through tubes or tuyeres extending through the material.ALSO:Refractory bricks and converter bottoms having a basis of refractory materials and organic binders are made by first compacting by pressure, tamping, impact or vibration, then heating to 100-350 DEG C. and during heating again compacting by impact and/or vibration. Magnesia and/or dolomite are specified.
