Abstract

754,370. Magnetic compositions. HOLM, S. July 19, 1954 [July 20, 1953; Nov. 6, 1953], No. 20976/54. Class 38 (2). A ceramic magnetic material is made by sintering a mixture of lithium, strontium and ferric oxides together with zinc and/or cadmium oxides. The mixture contains in mol. percentages, strontium oxide 0.02-5 per cent, lithium oxide 3-20 per cent, zinc and/or cadmium oxides 3-15 per cent, the remainder being ferric oxide. The oxides are ball milled, presintered, e.g. at 800‹ or 850‹ C., reground, moulded, and finally sintered at 940‹ C., 950‹ C. or 965‹ C. in air. Valves of initial permeability, Q, and tan 8 for different frequencies up to 250 Mc/sec. are quoted for bodies made with different proportions of starting materials.
