Abstract

753,238. Spring clip fastenings. F. T. PRO. DUCTS, Ltd. Nov. 1, 1954 [Nov. 13, 1953], No. 31600/63. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A draught excluder, such as for the door opening of an automobile, is secured in position by a fastener 16, Fig. 2, comprising a single strip of spring material bent to U-shape so as to have two flanges connected by a web 20 and formed with at least one externally directed prong 21 and in a flange with at least one inwardly - directed claw 17. As shown, the fastener 16 has two prongs 21, 22, formed out of web 20 and four claws such as those shown at 17, 18, 19 formed out of the edges of the flanges of the fastener, the ends of the flanges being outwardly flared at 23, 24. In a modification four prongs are provided, located symmetrically at the four corners of the web. In a further form, Fig. 3, two prongs are provided along one edge of the web and in another form two similarly shaped prongs are provided along the centre of the web. The draught excluder is fitted over the flange 11 of an automobile pillar 10, as shown in Fig. 1. An outer trim strip 12 of U-section, having an inwardly-turned flange 13, receives a strip 14 of rubber which is bent to U-shape and also a number of fasteners 16, the flange 13 engaging over the lips 23. On pressing the assembly on to the flange 11 the prongs 21, 22 are forced into the rubber strip 14, the latter being formed with a tubular sealing portion 15.
