Abstract
752,770. Fuze cords. POUDRERIES REUNIES DE BELGIQUE SOC. ANON. Oct. 15, 1954 [Nov. 2, 1953], No. 29800/54. Class 9(1) A fuze cord is provided comprising a core 1 of powder or explosive, e.g. trinitrotoluene or hexagen, with a covering of synthetic plastic foil 2, the seam being secured by adhesive or welding, and an outer sheath 4 of seamless synthetic plastic. Stiffening. wires 3 may extend through the core and an additional aluminium wire 3<SP>1</SP> may be wound around the cord before application of the outer sheath. The sheath 4 may be polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or other macro-molecular film-forming substances. In the embodiments of Figs. 5 and 6, an aluminium wire 5 extending axially through the fuze cord is provided at intervals with hollow chambers 6, which may be spherical or two truncated cones placed base to, base. Copper wires of thickness 0.22 mm. may be drawn into the cores to avoid irregularities and divert electrostatic charges during filling.
