Abstract
752,560. Preventing and extinguishing fires. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 15, 1954 [June 12, 1953], No. 1273/54. Class 47 Fire fighting and preventing means on aircraft comprise an electric circuit which upon operation of at least two inertia or impact switches 45 in relays A, B, C, D effects the release of fire-extinguishing fluid from cylinders 29 and coolant for the engine exhaust collector ring 18 from containers 14, 15, closes valves 20, 22 to cut off the fuel supply and a valve 25 to cut off the oil supply, and opens switches 10, 31, 35 to disconnect a, generator 12 and battery 32. Each relay includes a coil 40, an armature 41, a switch 42 operated by the armature to maintain the coil energized, an impact switch 45 and a test lamp 47. The relays A, B include also single-pole, single-throw switches 55, 60 and the relays C, D include also single-pole, single-throw switches 65, 75 and single-pole, double-throw switches 70, 80. The fire-fighting &c. means are operated by switches 87-92 operated by armatures 86 controlled by coils 85. The opening of the switch 35 for the battery is slightly delayed.
