Abstract

751,589. Band clips. JAMIE, R. C. S., and HUNT & TURNER, Ltd. Oct. 7, 1954, No. 28901/54. Class 44. In a metal hose clip of the kind comprising a band and which is adapted to be tightened or slackened about a coupling by adjusting a screw 4 interconnecting a pair of lugs 1, 9, the screw being threaded through a nut 8 supported by one of the lugs 1, the nut supporting lug 1 is formed by a U-shaped fold in the band adapted to embrace or accommodate the nut within the U, the nut being fixedly secured to one limb la of the U by spot or projection welding. As shown, the band is made of strip and forms a bridging member 11 which is hingedly connected to a wire ring 8. The lug 1 is formed in the member 11 either by folding intermediate its ends as shown, in which case one end 13 is pivoted to the ring 8, or by pivoting it to the ring 8 intermediate its ends and forming the U-fold in one end. The lug 9 is formed in the ring 8 and is covered by a U-shaped anchoring member 10. The nut is fixed by four welds to the limb 1a and the aperture in the limb 1b through which the screw 4 passes is large enough not to engage the threads of the screw. In another construction the ring 8 is not used, the end 13 of the band being extended and bent round nearly into a circle and having the lug 9 which abuts the screw end formed in it.
