Abstract

The method and apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by placing the material in a container connected to an expansion vessel and imparting to the treatment liquid a vigorous pulsating movement by raising and lowering the level of the liquid in the container by drawing liquid from and returning it to the expansion vessel. The level may be varied by increasing and reducing the pressure above the liquid which causes the liquid to move through the material first in one direction and then in another, preferably the level will always be above the material. After this treatment the remaining steps in the method of the parent Specification are carried out, that is the removal of the excess liquid and so on. When dyeing, the liquid may be introduced in a boiling state.
