Class 87(2) In a dough-moulding machine in which pieces of dough pass through sheeting rollers and are transferred by a conveyer belt to another conveyer B which takes them through a coiler D<2> and a shaper a, the width of the shaper is variable and its sides are formed from channel members B' carried on transverse rods b mounted in brackets b<1> on the shaper table a<1> and rollers C are mounted on the feed ends of the members B<1> to direct the dough pieces into the shaper. Each rod b has a left and right-hand screw thread-to engage nuts b<2> fixed to the members B<1> whereby, when the rods are rotated, the members are moved towards, or away from, one another. The rods may carry sprockets b<3> by which they are geared together by a chain b<4> so that rotation of one rod b by a handwheel b<5> will move the channel members. The rollers C are mounted on spindles carried by brackets c<1> extending from the channel members and may be driven from a motor D through belts arranged to rotate them in opposite directions, or by independent motors; or they may be freely mounted and rotated by contact with the moving dough. Spring-restrained jockey pulleys may keep the belts at uniform tension. Apiece of dough approaching the shaper a and not centrally placed on the conveyer B will meet one or other of the rollers C which will cause.one edge of the dough piece to fold inwards and thereby prevent damage to it by the side of the shaper. The rollers may have plastic surfacing sleeves, and their axes may be inclined to the vertical.
