750,853. Ink-ribbon mechanisms. MARTI, F., BRAUNSCHWEIG, G., and SCHAAD, J. March 19, 1954 [April 10, 1953], No. 8040/54. Class 100 (4). [Also in Groups XVIII and XIX] The ink ribbon 18, Figs. 1 and 2, of the recording mechanism of an instrument for checking the rate of a time-piece movement (see Group XVIII) is alternately wound off and on one of two reels 19, 20 connected respectively to pinions 21, 22 alternately driven by a gear 23, 24. The reels 19, 20 and their gears 21, 22 are supported by a rocker 25 pivoted on an axle 26. A second rocker comprising two levers 28 is pivoted at 27 to the rocker 25 and supports a roller 29 urged by a spring 30 against the reel 19 or 20 receiving the ribbon. When the diameter of said reel reaches a predetermined maximum the spring 30 pulls the roller 29 on to the other reel by a toggle action and weight of the roller 29 rocks the rocker 25 so that the pinion 21 or 22 of the other reel is brought into mesh with its driving gear 23 or 24.
