750,669. Dredgers. SMIT & ZOONS SCHEEPS-EN WERKTUIGTBOUW N.V., L. May 19, 1954 [June 16, 1953], No. 14676/54. Class 113. [Also in Group XXI] The suction pipe 11 of a dredger is supported from a derrick 4 by a tackle or tackles, the block or blocks 12 thereof being connected to the pipe 11 and the upper block or blocks 8 being mounted on a plate 6. The top of the plate 6 is hinged to the outer ends of a pair of parallel arms 7 pivotally mounted on the derrick 4, whilst the lower end of the plate 6 is supported on runways 10 by rollers 9 that are prevented by rollers 9a from disengaging the runways 10. Hauling in of the cable or cables 13 results in the pipe 11 rising vertically until the lower block or blocks 12 engages the upper block or blocks 8 and then the plate 7 and the tube 11 are pulled inboard.
