Abstract

450,932. Dredgers. HUTTON, G. H., 55, Moorgate, London. May 14, 1936, No. 13607. [Class 68 (i)] In a dredger, the bucket ladder 4 is braced by lateral guys 20 extending from anchorages 21 at the lower end of the ladder to anchorages 22 at a distance from each side of the dredge superstructure and in line with the pivotal axis of the ladder. Anchorages 22 are carried by struts 23 braced by guys 31, 32, or by compression struts, and are universally pivoted to a transverse frame including a horizontal runway for a crane. The guys have turn-buckles 33 for adjustment, and shock-absorbing springs 34. The dredger is moored and adjusted by side lines 35, 36, lines 35 being secured directly to bollards on shore. In a modification, the anchorages 22 are mounted at the apices of pyramidal structures.
