Abstract

750,575. Escapement mechanism.. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. July 7, 1954 [July 15, 1953], No. 19938/54. Class 80(4) An escapement mechanism providing a follow-up control with torque amplification from a control shaft 6 to a driven shaft 10 comprises a gear wheel 21 meshing with gears 7 and 22 on the control and driven shafts 6, 10 respectively and carried in a frame 18, 19 secured to a spindle 17. The spindle 17 also carries a pallet 23 which co-operates with a spring-arm 25 secured to a shaft 9 of a continuously driving motor which is geared to the driven shaft 10 through gears 8, 11. On rotation of the control shaft 6 in the direction of the arrow the gear 21 rolls on the driven gear 22 and rocks the frame 18, 19 downwards about the axis of spindle 17. This movement releases the arm 25 from the pallet 23 and the driving power of shaft 9 is transmitted through gears 8, 11 to driven shaft 10. This results in a restoring movement of the frame 18, 19 and gear 21 upwards to move the pallet 23 back into a position to reengage arm 25 after it has made one revolution. The ratios of the gears are chosen so that four releases of the pallet 23 take place during each revolution of control shaft 6 and the driven shaft 6 completes a revolution in four corresponding steps. The spindle 17 is gapped to allow passage of the arm 25 on release by the pallet and the rocking movement of frame 18, 19 is limited by a forked end 26 thereof cooperating with an abutment 5. In a modified arrangement the pallet cooperates with four arms on the driven shaft itself the operation being otherwise similar. In another modification the control and driven gears are co-axially arranged and the intermediate gear 21 is formed as a planetary gear engaging both of the control and driven gears and supported in a carrier rockable about the axis thereof. A pallet on this carrier co-operates with an arm on a driving shaft geared to the driven shaft.
