Abstract
750,028. Securing bolts &c. against loss. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., MORGAN, R. W., and THOMAS, C. Aug. 23, 1954 [Dec. 29, 1953], No. 36018/53. Class 89 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] A screw 3, Fig. 1, for securing a cover 1 to a base 4, e.g. of an electric switch, is retained in the .cover by its thread abutting a constriction 2d in the screw-receiving bore 2 in the cover. The threaded part 3d of the screw is of larger diameter than the shank 3b, and bore 2 has a reduced part 2b, part 2c of the wall of which is sloped to form the constriction. When assembling the screw to the cover, the screw cuts threads in part 2c as shown in Fig. 3. Opposed parts of the bore-wall may be tapered and the threads may be formed with a tap before assembling the screw.
