Abstract

749,536. Ammunition containers. MICROCELL, Ltd., and BENNISON, H. G. Dec. 31, 1954 [Oct. 1. 1953]. No. 26991/53. Class 9(1) A container for belted ammunition, e.g. 20 mm. cannon shells, comprises a body portion 11 moulded from synthetic resin reinforced with glass fibres with a reinforcing metal rim 12 secured by waterproof adhesive, a rubber sealing ring 13 and a detachable lid 14 made of similar material to the body 11. The lid fits wholly within the container and is held in sealing relationship with the ring 13 by four rotable clips 15 as described in Specification 727,056 [Group XXV], the clips being attached to the lid by rivets 16 and they engage slots 17 in the rim 12. A canvas handle (not shown) is fixed to the lid. Cushioning members 18, 19, 20, 21 made of " Rubazote " (Registered Trade Mark) and packing members 22, 23, 24, 25 made of glass matt are also provided. the side and bottom cushioning and packing members being bonded to the container and the top cushioning and packing members are bonded to the lid. The individual shells 27 are separated by spacing members 26.
