Abstract

749,429. Cathode materials and processing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 10, 1954, No. 35847/54. Class 39 (1). The adhesion of the emissive coating to a cathode base is improved by incorporating a water-soluble salt of alginic acid. Suitable substances are ammonium alginate or that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Manucol Ester ES/KM. " The alginate may be mixed with the emissive material before coating, or an already prepared emissive coating may then be dipped into the alginate solution. Examples are given with specified proportions.
