749,150. Speed regulators for spinning machines. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Feb. 24, 1954 [Feb. 27, 1953], No. 5477/54. Class 120 (2). In a speed regulator for spinning &c. machines, a control element, for determining by its angular displacement the speed of the spinning motor, is arranged to be angularly displaced by a crank having a crank-pin connected for operation by the output of summating mechanism which combines components of adjustment proportional to basic and chase speeds and a lever connected to means for setting the initial spinning speed is arranged to vary according to its setting, the effective distance between said crank-pin and its crank axis, whereby said element is subject to a single point adjustment taking account of the initial, chase and basic speeds. In the arrangement shown, basic speed is fed via wormgearing 5, cam 1, follower lever 8 connecting rod 10 and lever 14 to the summating chain 16 and chase speed is fed in a similar manner via bevel gearing 3, cam 2, follower lever 9, connecting rod 11 and lever 15. The output from the summating mechanism 16, 17, 18 displaces pivot point 19 and hence the connecting rod 20 for operating crank 21. The crank 21 is secured to the regulator shaft 23 controls the speed of the spinning motor. Arranged coaxially on the shaft 23 and rotatable thereabout is a bush 24 having secured thereto a lever 25 which is initially set for the desired initial spinning speed. The lever 25 and the crank 21 have arcuate slots 26 and 22 respectively which cross in scissor fashion and houses the crank-pin 27 at the end of the connecting rod 20. Rotation of the lever 25 thus sets the crank 21 to the position of angular adjustment of the shaft 23 for the desired initial spinning speed whilst simultaneously determining the distance of the crank-pin 27 from the crank axis. Thereafter the vertical displacement of the rod 20 determines the position of the crank 21 and thus the speed of the spinning motor.
