Driving-arrangements. - In speed-regulating means for spinning-machines, the member 6 that, in known manner, varies the basic speed of the machine is mounted on the building-motion lever 1 operated by the cam 5, so that it also varies the speed of the machine in accordance with the diameter being wound. The member 6 is formed with a cam engaging a lever 9 .connected by an adjustable lever system 13, 14, 15 with the regulating-gear 16 of the driving-motor, and is rotated by the usual ratchet gear of the building-motion, or it may be a curved rail or bar moved in accordance with the building- motion. The variation of the speed in accordance with the diameter being wound may be controlled or eliminated altogether by adjusting the member 6 in relation to the pivot of the lever or by making it coincide therewith, and, in order that the ratio of transmission from the member 6 to the regulating-gear 16 may not be effected by such adjustment, hydraulic transmission gear may be used or the axis of the lever 9 may be at right angles to the axis of the lever 1. The hydraulic transmission gear may comprise a piston operated by the cam 6 and working in a cylinder which is filled with a liquid such as oil and communicates with a similar cylinder and a piston connected to the lever 15. To compensate for the lag of the speed of the motor, due, for instance, to idle motion in the brush gear or to the motor itself, the ratio of transmission may be further varied by adjusting the rod in slots 23, 25 in the levers 13, 15. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect 91 (3) (a) comprises also an arrangement wherein the member 6 is mounted on a part, other than the building-motion lever, controlled by the heart cam 5. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
