Abstract

A method of reducing the amount of polyisocyanate required to effect a cure of an elastomeric diisocyanate-modified linear polyester or polyesteramide according to the parent Specification is modified in that the cure is conducted in the presence of white factice or a mixture of white factice and magnesium oxide instead of magnesium oxide alone. White factice is the reaction product of sulphur chloride and vegetable or fish oils. The uncured elastomers used are those of Specifications 694,978, 694,982, 696,449 and 696,450. In an example, a mixture of (a) a poly-ethylene-1,2-propylene adipate modified by 2,4-toluylene diisocyanate; (b) 1.5-naphthalene diisocyanate; and (c) either white factice or a mixture thereof with magnesium oxide, was milled together and sheets were press cured for 15 minutes at 280 DEG F. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 716,071 and 716,135.
