Abstract
<PICT:0748497/III/1> Paint or other surface coating is prepared from a mixture of basic ingredients packaged in a container 1 of pre-determined size having a removable lid 3, and colour material 7 packaged separately, in measured quantity correlated to the size of the container, in a flexible and compressible envelope 8 sealed against leakage, by holding the envelope by one end 10 over the contents of the container 1, providing an opening in the depending end, placing one side of the envelope against the upper edge of the container with the portion containing the colour material inside the container edge, applying pressure to the opposite side of the envelope by pressing the edge 4 of the lid against it, pulling the envelope out from between the container and the lid, and mixing the colour material with the basic ingredients. The last-named comprise all the usual ingredients of the coating material, with the exception of the colour. The envelope 8 may be of a material such as regenerated cellulose coated or impregnated with a suitable resin, wax or plastic composition, or of a heat-sealable thermoplastic material, and may be formed of a sheet folded and sealed along the ends and edge; it may be further subdivided by seals along its length.
