Abstract

748,488. Endless belt conveyers. PATTINSON, G. H. Aug. 27, 1953 [Aug. 27, 1952], No. 21533/52. Class 78 (1). In an endless belt conveyer for the bulk conveyance of wet materials such as gravel, the top face of at least the working run of the belt over the whole or over part of its length is of convex or other cambered or equivalent form in cross-section, the slope of the said face being less than the angle of repose of the particles of the bulk material so that the particles will remain on the belt whilst the liquid in the wet bulk material will drain to one or other or both of the side edges of the belt. The convex form of the belt may be effected by supporting the belt at intervals along its length on sets of three rollers. The belt may be of uniform thickness or it may be thinner at its edges than at its middle and taper in thickness towards its edges.
