Abstract
748,416. Printing-telegraph receivers. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. July 9, 1953 [Sept. 16, 1952], No. 19074/53. Class 40 (3). In a teleprinter receiver in which the response movements of the receiver magnet are transferred to the selecting members of a combiner by push members operated by the driving mechanism of the receiver, guide members are provided so that the selected settings of the push members are maintained as soon as they are moved beyond the operating zone of the receiver magnet and until the selecting members are set. As shown, the extension of the armature 2 of the magnet 1 co-operates with the fish-tail end 6a of each pusher member 6 pivoted on associated three-armed levers 5 having ends 5b co-operating with shaped cams 7 having portions which are spirally staggered. If the end of the armature occupies the released position 2a the movement of the lever 5 of the left causes the lower part of the tail to be engaged by the end of the armature, and the pusher member 6 to be rocked when the highest part 7a of the cam engages the end 5b. The movement of the lever 5 when the end 5b engages the constant radius portion causes the tapered end of the member 6 to engage the upper surface of a wedge-shaped guiding member 12 located in identical recesses in the five selecting rings 11. The cams 7 are shaped so that the final clockwise movement of each lever 5 takes place simultaneously and causes the tapered end of the associated pusher member 6 to engage between the guide member 12 and the edge 11a of the recess in the ring 11 to effect its movement. If the signal elements are simultaneously applied to separate magnets, the cams are shaped so that the storage position represented in Fig. 4 to allow for the setting of the members 6 before they are moved simultaneously to position the rings 11, is omitted.
