747,437. Surgical tables and chairs. ALLEN & HANBURYS, Ltd. Oct. 27, 1954 [Nov. 23, 1953], No. 32440/53. Classes 52(2) and 52(3). An operating table comprises a central pillar 2, the height of which can be adjusted by fluid pressure, a yoke 7 pivoted about a longitudinal axis to the top of the pillar, a table top 4 pivoted about a transverse axis 9 to the yoke, screw-andnut mechanism 13, 14 for tilting the table top about the axis 9 and screw-andnut mechanism (not shown) for tilting the yoke about the longitudinal axis, the handles 10, 11 of the mechanisms being located at the same end of the table top. A small platform 23 in the table top 4 can be raised by rotation of a handle 24 acting through gearing, screw-and-nut mechanism and links. The table may have detachable extensions 27, 28. The invention may be applied to operating chairs.
