Class 68(1) A ground-freezing tube comprises an outer tube 2 closed at the bottom and a tubular element 1 concentrically disposed within the outer tube, the material of the element having a tensile strength sufficient for the weight of said material to be supported solely by its upper end. The element can comprise a steel tube coated internally and/or externally throughout its length with a derivative of rubber. Alternatively the element may be formed by two concentric tubes with an annular space therebetween. The tubes may be sealed together at one or both ends. In the former case the space is filled with stagnant liquid and the latter case with air.
