Abstract
746,168. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 15, 1954 [Oct. 16, 1953], No. 29772/54. Class 36. In a rotor with axial passages 3 in the conductors, partitions 1, 2 are provided at intervals to split the rotor axially into sections, the end sections receiving fluid which has entered by radial inlets 6 in the end windings and and discharging it radially to the air gap near the other end of the. section by outlets 8 while intermediate sections receive fluid from sub-slots 12 from whence it passes axially through a section and is discharged radially to the air gap, e.g. by outlets 16, 22. The third section from each end may solely or additionally be supplied by fluid which has passed axially through ducts 17 in the rotor teeth and thence by passages 18 into the bottom of the conductor slots as shown in Fig. 4 (or into the sub-slots 12 if these extend to the 3rd section).
