Abstract
745,761. Rotary printing machines. VEB DRUCKMASCHINENWERK VICTORIA VVB. POLYGRAPH. Sept. 28, 1953, No. 26608/53. Class 100 (2). In a sheet-fed rotary printing-machine including driven impression and plate cylinders and a delivery or transfer device, including an intermittently-driven drum moving an endless conveyer on to which sheets after printing are delivered, and having means for tripping the impression cylinder in the event of incorrect sheet feed, the printing mechanism is driven separately from the delivery drum from a main driving shaft and the delivery drum is so positioned that the throw-off movement between the impression and plate cylinders can be made approximately radially. As shown, a vertical main shaft 12 is driven by a motor 15 through worm gearing 13, 14. An intermediate shaft 17 is driven from the shaft 12 through spiral bevel gears 16, 18, and the shaft 17 drives a sheet delivery drum 22 through a train of helical gears. A second intermediate shaft 27 is driven from the shaft 12 through spiral bevel gears 23, 24 and a pair of helical gears, and this shaft drives the shaft 32 of an impression cylinder 5 through a second pair of helical gears on the opposite side of the machine frame. The cylinder 5 has a helical gear thereon meshing with a similar gear on the plate cylinder 6. The inking-apparatus 2 is driven by bevel gears from a shaft 34 which is driven from the shaft 12 by bevel-gears 33, 35. The shaft 32 of the impression cylinder 5 is mounted in eccentric bushes to allow the cylinder to be tripped away from the cylinder 6 in a direction approximately radially of the latter and towards the drum 22. Sheets are fed over a table 7 to front and side registers 8, 9, and fed to the impression cylinder 5 by oscillating gripper means 10. Sheetdetector and control fingers 11 can initiate the tripping of the cylinder 5 in the event of faulty sheet feed to the table 7.
