Rotary offset machines. - In a rotary offset machine of the kind in which an offset cylinder as a coacting with an impression cylinder b of half its diameter is formed with a sheet-carrying surface a<1> which takes the sheet and delivers it printed side up to a delivery device arranged beneath the printing-cylinder c is constructed with suction orifices h, c in the surface a<1> for holding the sheet in position as it is carried by this surface, and the sheets are stripped from the cylinder a by strippers g, or are blown off by compressed air, and are delivered in a pile by a drop-sheet delivery device. The sheets are fed to the impression cylinder b by grippers d, and the plate cylinder c is fitted with damping- rollers f, and inking-rollers e spaced apart sufficiently to permit of the hand-wiping of the printing-plate. Delivery apparatus. - The printed sheets are received by tapes t<1> passing over pulleys i, k driven in the same direction and speed as the cylinder a. The pulleys are mounted in arms s, s<1> which are oscillated to cause descent of the tapes t to deposit the sheets on tapes T passing over fixed pulleys j, j<1> and pulleys l, m carried by a sliding rack z which is reciprocated by a crank x which reciprocates a wheel r in gear with a fixed rack y, a wheel r<1> on the shaft of wheel r engaging the rack z. As the pulleys l, m move to the left they are held against rotation by pawls, and the pulleys j, j<1> rotate, but on the reverse movement only the pulleys l, m rotate, and the sheets are thus dropped on to the pile.
