Abstract

745,431. Spring suspensions for motor-cycles. EHRLICH, J. Feb. 15, 1954 [Nov. 13, 1952], No. 28683/52. Classes 79 (3) and 136 (3). In a motor cycle comprising two main members 1, 5, the member 1 carrying the rear wheel and engine and the member 5 having its lower end pivoted on the member 1 and its upper end fixed to the steering column bearing 6, a resilient member 7 is provided between the forward end of the member 1 and the upper end of the member 5, the latter being continuous and carrying the seat support. The member 1 is provided with mountings 2, 3 for the rear wheel and with attachments 4 for the engine. The member 1 is hollow and serves as a silencer. The exhaust port of the engine is connected to the tubular member 1 at 8. The gases pass out through the forked rear portion of the member 1 through fish-tails 9.
