Abstract
745,264. Writing tablet. LESWICK, Ltd. Sept. 15. 1954 [Sept. 15, 1953], No. 25501/53. Class 146(2) A writing tablet comprises a continuous band of semi-transparent paper 16 arranged above a continuous band of material covered with an adhesive layer 17 and these are separated to obliterate the writing, and mounting the bands so as to be traversed. As shown in Fig. 2, they are traversed over a manually rotated roller 1 and a roller 2 each journalled in side plates 3 of a U-shaped frame having a top-plate 5 and which is removably contained in a casing 19. The roller 2 is formed in two parts, Fig. 5, and is slidably mounted in slots 9 in the side plates. Rollers 2 are urged to tension the bands 16; 17 by a spring 11 connected to the spindle 8 of the rollers by a link 10. When it is required to place the bands 16, 17 in position in the tablet, the spring 11 is released from the position shown to the dotted line position by sliding one end of the spring 11 along a slot 13 and hooking it in a loop 14. In a modification, the bands 16, 17 instead of being traversed over rollers are guided by curved ends of the plate 5 and are moved by a gripper 35, Fig. 7, slidable in a slot. 38 in the casing 19. Obliteration may be positively effected by a metal strip 18 disposed between the bands 16 and 17, instead of relying upon the tendency cf thebands to creep relatively to one another.
