Abstract

1292558 Guiding webs AGFA-GEVAERT AG 5 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 36868/71 Heading B8R Apparatus suitable for guiding webs of different widths comprises a set of guide rails 11, 12 which define a path for the widest web to be used, and a set of further guide members 15, 16 which define a path for a narrower web. The members 15, 16 are pivotally mounted at 13, 14 as shown, and are provided with oblique surfaces 15c, 16c; thus, the narrower web 3 can be guided by the members 15, 16 but when the leading edge of the wider web meets these surfaces 15c, 16c the members 15, 16 are pivoted to an inoperative position and the web can then be guided by the rails 11, 12. Further sets of inner guide members may be provided. The movable members may be urged into their operative positions solely by the action of gravity or by means of springs, and the movement may be effected by levers or by switch-operated electromagnetic arrangements responsive to the width of the web.
