Abstract

Acrylonitrile polymer solutions comprise at least one polymer containing at least 85 per cent of acrylonitrile in its molecule, a solvent therefor such as dimethyl formamide, and as a colour stabilizer 0.005 to 15 per cent of at least one stannous salt of an organic carboxylic or inorganic acid, such as stannous formate, stannous oxalate, and stannous chloride. Polymers specified are polyacrylonitrile and a copolymer of acrylonitrile and N-vinyl imidazole. The polymer solutions may be used in the production of films, filaments, threads, artificial horsehair, and cast objects.
